Good news, everybody! Warner Brothers Pictures and Legendary Pictures have announced that the new Godzilla movie will hit the screens on May 16, 2014.
With over 25 movies, comic books, books, animated television shows and video games - everybody knows Godzilla, the King of the Monsters. And yet... after partaking in six decades, I never got a Godzilla T-shirt.
This new movie will take Godzilla back to his roots - with lots of action, fight scenes, destruction of cities and hopefully less talk amongst the moral dilemma about nuclear power or radiation.
Legendary, working under an agreement with Warner Bros., has announced that the movie shall be directed by Gareth Edwards (“Monsters"), based on the screenplay by David Callaham (“The Expendables”), David S. Goyer (recent Batman trilogy) and Max Borenstein (upcoming “The Seventh Son”).
Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are the producers, with Roy Lee, Dan Lin and Brian Rogers. Alex Garcia and Patricia Whitcher are executive producers alongside Doug Davison, Banno Yoshimitsu (surname first) and Okuhira Kenji (surname first). Finally! Some Japanese folks!
And, in case any of you were laying bets, global distribution of the film (let's just call it Godzilla 2014... until they come up with an official, official title) is by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company—except in Japan, where it will be distributed by Toho Co., Ltd. Yay! Toho! The people who first brought Godzilla to the screen back in the 1950s!
And... if the rumors persist, the new flick will indeed by a 3D movie! Oh! The mayhem!
And that image above... it's supposed to be from the new movie. Destruction!!! I love it!
Update: Oh... filming will begin in Vancouver, Canada in March of 2013!
UPDATE: On December 18, 2012, a screenshot was posted by Jordane Menard, the modeler concept and texture artist for this new flick.
Cheers
Andrew Joseph
*Personal disclaimer* By the way... I love the death and destruction in my movies only. Just in case anyone mistakes my enthusiasm for a movie for being a psychotic killer.
