On June 3, 2013, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police said it arrested two men who are accused of introducing teenage prostitutes to male customers via the smartphone app LINE.
Sekiguchi Kenichi (surname first), 51, and Kato Eiji (surname first), 37, were charged with violating Japan's Anti-Prostitution Law regarding introductory services.
Apparently the two men began using LINE in November 2012 to recruit 10 teenage girls to work as prostitutes and to find customers.
The customers were solicited by posts to bulletin boards that included photos of young girls in school uniforms. Again with the school uniforms.
LINE is being called the most downloaded app in over 40 countries. It's a global messaging service offering such things as free calls and messages, sending of videos and voice messages and more crap.
Whatever. I don't have a cell phone. I'm one of 47 people on the planet to not have one. In Canada, it's just me, George, Rob, Caroline... and three others. You know who you are.
Anyhow... above is a Japanese news video discussing the prostitution case. And you can see the accused in the video freeze frame... Hopefully they kept good records and can go after the men who used the service. They are every bit as guilty as the men who procured the girls.
But remember... this is not just a Japanese thing. It's a worldwide affliction. I just happen to report on all things Japanese.
Cheers

PS: The headline is my homage to the adage "hook, line and sinker"... hookers, LINE and stinkers.
