Perhaps this is a bit of a weird thing, or perhaps it's simply the next step in the evolution of mankind where people simply want to smell as nice as a they imagine an imaginary character should smell.
My cat, Spek, doesn't seem to smell bad even though she digs around in a box filled with her own urine and feces before coming in to sleep beside me on my bed. I imagine an imaginary cat would smell more fragrant...
Welcome to the world of Hello Kitty (ハローキティ Harō Kiti) also known as Kitty White. The cat is a the property of the Japanese company Sanrio - and is a female white Japanese bobtail cat who typically wears a red bow on her head.
Now... HCT CA, a California-based company (which is what I assume is the CA part of the name), has already created a Hello Kitty fragrance, the Big Pink Bow perfume, sold at Sephora shops.
Okay. fine.
But now, HCT has created an accessory for the perfume... a ring made of zamac featuring the design of Hello Kitty on the ring. Okay... but what is special about this ring is that it contains a solid block that contains a nice perfume smell (so I hear). A photo of the ring (two of them) is above.
You simply slide the lid on the ring to the side and there's a nice fruity, floral scent.
"Hey, baby! You smell just as I fantasize Hello Kitty would smell! Let's go play with a ball of yarn over a bowl of Meow Mix!" says the demented blog writer Andrew Joseph.
Nick Gardner, executive vice-president of HCT's California office says: "The Big Pink Bow Perfume To Go Ring is a highly collectable accessory... we manufactured the ring from Zamac to give it a luxe look and feel."
'Luxe look'? Oh... luxurious look to it? Why the hell didn't you say so? Cat got your tongue?
And what the hell is 'zamac'?Apparently zamac is a base metal of zinc and alloying elements of aluminum, magnesium, and copper. That means it's not that expensive a material... which is very good for the fans.
HCT replicated the character's face on the custom zamac ring which is further decorated in white enamel, shimmering gold trim, and a sparkling diamante bow - not her usual red bow. Hey! Is this an official Hello Kitty product if she doesn't have the proper bow?
And... should you be wondering, the full name of the product is: the Hello Kitty Big Pink Bow Perfume To Go Ring, and it sells for Cdn $29 (¥2,276) and can be found at all Sephora shops.
Don't believe me? Here's a link to the Sephora website's page on Hello Kitty merchandise! All of it! HERE.
Hmmm... there's one at the mall near where I work. Shall I take a look tomorrow?
Cheers
