There's a bar for women who do what now?
Only in Japan, I suppose, can one find a women's masturbation bar.
Called Bar Joule, the Tokyo-bar situated in the city's entertainment district of Shibuya is a NOT a place where women come, drop their panties and insert fingers or toys while having a drink.
Dammit!
Rather the bar is a place where women can get together and discuss the taboo subject of masturbation. Masturbation is a taboo subject? Apparently it is for women in Japan. And that's why Nakagawa Megumi (surname first) came up with the concept of a 'love and sex bar dedicated to women'.
I'm no prude. But this seems ridiculous. Women enter this place, have a drink and chat with other women about masturbation techniques. Really? Why?
Seriously. Why? Why does one need to talk to anyone about what masturbation. Techniques? It's sex! You get off because you have found a way that gets you off. What is there to talk about?
"Hey! Megumi-chan! Do you prefer to use your right hand to massage your clitoris and your left hand moving inside you - or is it the other way around? I'm so confused!"
"Hands? I've been using toys! Is that wrong of me."
"Toys... of course not. What toys do you prefer?"
"Anything with Hello Kitty on it."
"Hello Kitty?! You are such a freak! Everyone knows you have to dress us like Alice and use the life-like green vibrating anal intruder with the Pokemon graphics on it. I choose you, Pikachu!"
You get the idea. I think it's goofy. Now perhaps this is a needed facility. As a man, however, I can tell you that although we men masturbate quite often (I'm doing it right now), we certainly don't go around discussing it with anyone needing a support group to hold each other's hand. (Why is your hand sticky?)
Anyhow, Bar Joule ... rather than have bottles of booze sitting on shelves behind the bar, it has dozens and dozens of colorful sex toys.
According to Nakagawa, with sex toys in plain sight women patrons will feel more confident in chatting about diddling the bearded clam or slapping the man in the boat or whatever the hell you want to call female masturbation. Hmmm... perhaps if women had a cool nickname for it, (men have hundreds of nicknames for male masturbation) it would demystify the whole 'taboo' subject.
"Once they take a seat, customers are able to experience a pleasant place in which they can openly discuss masturbation," says Nakagawa. "Since most people view female masturbation as something of a mystery or taboo, it is not a usual topic at typical bars."
Sweetheart... masturbation for men is not a usual topic at typical bars. We will call someone a jerk-off or a wanker, but no one asks anyone: "Hey SpongeBob! How many times did you spank the monkey today?"
People that do ask that question probably belong to a circle-jerk group.
Nakagawa describes the atmosphere at Bar Joule as "fashionable and sexy in a different kind of space - perfect for girls-only discussions or a date."
Apparently men are allowed into the bar... but only if invited by a woman.
"Kenji-san... please come with me to the bar as my date.'
"Okay baby! I'll buy the drinks."
"No, it's okay. No drinks. But You can sit there like a spare tire while I have open and frank discussions with other sexy women about the best ways to masturbate."
"Huh?"
"And, after we leave, I shall go home by myself and try out the latest techniques, because, as you know, when it comes to female masturbation, new techniques are being created on a weekly basis by a crack team of engineers at many of our top research facilities like Honda, Toshiba and, of course, Manko."
Somewhere... your humble author needs a drink.

What type of tip do you leave the bartender? |
