Would you believe that no less than six women sent me a link to the following story?
I guess that means they think it's important. And you know what, it is. This is a short story about
Beate Sirota Gordon, a woman who passed away recently - an American woman - who helped rewrite Japan's post-war Constitution, specifically the parts in it about Women's Rights.
It's an important story about an important person who helped provide Japanese women with rights in a society it had not had before... the simple rights most of us take for granted.
Of the various links sent to me, here's one from the New York Times: HERE.
Have a read and celebrate Ms. Gordon's life.
As well, here's a YouTube video about her:
When I was in Japan, it always seemed as though women were second-class citizens... and to some degree, they were. I can't even imagine what things were like before Ms. Gordon helped them.
Cheers
