I'll just be brief - no really.
Here's what I accomplished for Day 5 of my version of the Tokyo Imperial Hotel - my cheap version of the $160 LEGO kit of the Hotel.
Since I can't afford the real LEGO kit, I downloaded the free instructions at LEGO.com and used all the bricks I had accumulated over the years.
On this evening, I added a front roof. It looks good!
I decided to glance ahead in the 100+ page instruction manual and found a whole lot of complex little things.. little things that have to look good or the whole model will look like crap.
In fact, up until this point damn near everything that shows the inside of the Hotel is moot, as roofing will eventually cover up everything. I guess me searching my thousands of LEGO bricks for an acceptable match was actually a lesson in futility.
Zennnnnnn.
But that's cool, because why should the Kit be a simple build. For $160 - or the approximately $40 in bricks I am using, it should be a complete bugger of a build.
I'm actually finding out that unlike the instructions for theme kits like Star Wars or City or Ninjago, this instruction manual is not as clear as to the placement of bricks.
Look at that. I learned something new... and I am presented with a challenge.
And wait until you see the build-up on Day 6.
Man... I am not even half-way done yet.
Cheers,
Andrew Joseph
