Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?
Well, forget that! Someone in Japan is thinking with their heart, having delivering a pair of gold bars worth about ¥10,000,000 (~Cdn/US $107,000) to the Ishinomaki-shi (Ishinomaki City) fish market in Miyagi-ken (Miyagi Prefecture) that was devastated when the March 11, 2011 tsunami smashed the city.
The two 1-kilogram bars of gold were sent in a package to the president of the Fish Market Sunou Kunio (surname first) on February 8, 2013 - sent via a home-delivery courier.
Although the fish market has no idea who sent the gold bars, they will accept them as a gift to help restore the badly damaged fish market.
A Japanese language NHK news video is available below.
As an aside, police and fish market officials say they have no idea who the mystery donor is - but I'm just going to go out on a limb and state that each gold bar is individually numbered. Therefore it is quite easy to know to whom the bar was issued to. It could be backtracked to the source.
While the weed of crime bears bitter fruit, surely this kind act has nothing to do with a crime - so surely even a fictional character like The Shadow could track down the mysterious benefactor. If the group involved really wanted to. Especially since these Credit Suisse (a global financial services company headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland) bars have serial numbers so close together. It appears as though it was originally part of a larger purchase of gold bars.
I wouldn't, of course. Better to leave the identity of the mystery man alone - in case he or she feels like donating to the cause again. After all... there's a gap in the gold bar serial numbers...
As for Ishinomaki - if you would like to see a very good video on the place post-tsunami, click HERE. It's by Ken Nishikawa and Mike Rogers and is called Ishinomaki - Black Water. Mike is a good friend of mine, and Ken... while I have not yet met him, I have watched a few of his films and think he is brilliant.
To the person who provided this kind donation - Japan - It's A Wonderful Rife salutes you.
Cheers
